Austin grad Simmons contributes to Texas Southern victory

Fort Bend Austin High School graduate Morgan Simmons scored seven points in Texas Southern University's 64-52 win over conference rival Alabama State on Monday, Feb. 25 at Dunn-Oliver Acadome in Montgomery, Ala., Southern's website reported.

Simmons also recorded five rebounds, one assist, two steals and a block for the Tigers, who improved to 18-9 on the season and 15-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Texas Southern's next game is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at home against Southern.

Simmons, a 6-foot-1 sophomore for Texas Southern University, is a 2011 graduate of Austin High School. She is a La Marque native.
