Houston-area communities among the top 20 selling master-planned communities

The Houston-area communities designed by Johnson Development Corp. are among the top 20-selling master-planned communities in the country, it was recently announced.

The three communities are Riversone and Sienna Plantation, which are in Fort Bend, and Woodforest in Montgomery County. Riverstone saw 605 homes sold in 2012, which was a 100 percent increase from 2011 the development was ranked seventh in the country. Sienna Plantation, ranked 16th, had 387 home sales, a 46 percent increase over the previous year. Woodforest placed 19th in the national ranking with 308 home sales, a 139 percent increase over 2011.

Cross Creek Ranch, a Johnson Development community in west Houston, had over 300 home sales but fell just outside of the top 20.

"Families are gravitating to our communities because of the lifestyle we offer through an array of amenities for every age and demographic," Doug Goff, chief operating officer of The Johnson Development Corp., said in a press release.

Houston had more communities on the top 20 list than any other market with a total of eight.
