Harmony School of Science-Sugar Land High students give the $3,000 check to Elizabeth Zarughese of the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
Harmony School of Science-Sugar Land High recently raised $3,000 to donate for the American Red Cross to aid in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
According to a press release from Harmony School of Science-Sugar Land High, "During the month of November, HSS-High students participated in a 'Coins for a Cause' campaign to help support those affected by Hurricane Sandy. On Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, HSS-High students presented the $3,000 check to Elizabeth Zarughese from the American Red Cross."
"This service project opened students’ minds and hearts to the true devastation that actually took place. By donating to the fund, students made individual impacts on relief efforts," assistant principal Afreen Merchant said in the release.
"You never know when disaster will strike, and it’s important for us to come together as a country to support each other," said Dalia Lopez, an eighth grade student, in the release.
Harmony School of Science-Sugar Land High is at 13522 W. Airport Blvd., Sugar Land.
