Hightower grad Green contributes to TCU win
Hightower High School graduate Garlon Green scored 15 points as Texas Christian won 67-64 at home over Mississippi Valley State Sunday, Dec. 30, at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth, the TCU website reported.
The TCU senior forward also recorded seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks for the Horned Frogs, who improved to 9-4 on the season. TCU's next game is 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at home against Texas Tech University.
Green played his senior season at Hightower High School in 2008-2009 were he ranked as one of the top players in the Greater Houston Area. In that same season he was ranked as the 12th-best player in the State of Texas by TexasHoops.com. Among receiving first team All-District 23-5A honors and All-Texas State accolades, Green was nominated as the Best Slam Dunker by MyHouston's55.com. He also played for the Houston Elite and Houston Hoops during his AAU career; Green is the son of Gerald (Texas Southern scholarship winner) and Brenda Green.
