Gas prices in and around Fort Bend were lower than the averages for Houston and the country as a whole, according to data from the price-tracking website gasbuddy.com.

Visitors to the gasbuddy.com website reported rates at 104 gas stations in and around Fort Bend as of Friday, Dec. 21. The average price of regular unleaded gas in Fort Bend is $3.01 per gallon. Gasbuddy.com listed the Houston average at $3.02, the state average at $3.03 and the nationwide average at $3.25.

The least expensive gas in Fort Bend was reported to be $2.89 for a gallon of regular unleaded, which gasbuddy.com contributors logged at Kroger, 24401 Brazos Town Crossing; Valero, 1212 FM -2218; Murphy USA, 5334 FM -1640; and Chevron, Grand Mission Boulevard.

A gasbuddy.com user reported the most expensive gas in the area was $3.34 at Shell, 2465 FM -1092.
