Retired Educators donate books to Project L.E.A.R.N. students
Project L.E.A.R.N. Director Paula Bauer and L.E.A.R.N. teacher Kristie Allen hand out a book to Paola Navarro, a fifth-grader at Travis Elementary, as Dennis Dahse, Doris Dahse and Shirley Connally look on.
Retired teachers from the Lamar ISD area have been helping with Project L.E.A.R.N., which stands for Let's Eliminate At-Risk Needs.
The Fort Bend County Retired Educators Association donated books to the project. Dennis Dahse, Doris Dahse and Shirley Connally represented the group during the L.E.A.R.N. annual Christmas party.
L.E.A.R.N. is a family based literacy program. Parents attend classes and children receive homework and tutoring. The classes include adult and parent education classes and use literacy based activities for parents to interact with children.
