American Red Cross Super Ball set for Jan. 26
The American Red Cross Greater Houston Chapter will host its 12th annual Red Cross Super Ball on Saturday, Jan. 26.
According to a news release, this year’s event will be a casual, tailgate party featuring a buffet, complimentary beer and wine, live and silent auctions, sports games and dancing.
The event will raise money for several American Red Cross programs, including disaster services, service to the armed forces and transportation. In addition, the ball will honor individuals in the community who have shown strong support to Fort Bend County and the Red Cross.
Honorary chairs for the ball are Chris Breaux, Whitley Penn, Mary Gayle Brindley, Amegy Bank, Town Square and Keri Schmidt of the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce.
The event is scheduled to take place at Safari Texas Ranch and Ballroom, 11627 FM 1464 Road, Richmond.

Tree of Honor set for Dec. 16 in Sugar Land
The Tree of Honor, sponsored by Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land.
According to a press release from Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, “Each tree light will symbolize someone special, and those honored will have their names called during the tree lighting ceremony. Join the honorary circle for $500, or purchase a $10 light, $25 dove, $50 angel or $100 star.”

Deci-Belles coming to Sugar Land on Dec. 18
The Deci-Belles will perform at Loving Friends’ Christmas dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land.
An independent women’s barbershop chorus, the Deci-Belles have been performing in the Houston area and surrounding counties for more than 30 years.
Cost for dinner is $17. Reservations are required.
Loving Friends is a social group for those who want to move on after losing a spouse.
Sweetwater Country Club is at 4400 Palm Royale Blvd.

Snow in forecast for Sugar Land’s Wonderland
A Winter Wonderland will be held Saturday, Dec. 15 at Imperial Park Recreation Center in Sugar Land.
The event, for ages 5 to 12, will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
There will be inflatable obstacle courses, jumpers, a provided lunch and 50,000 pounds of real snow. Each child will also receive a T-shirt.
Parents can buy tickets for their children for $5 for Imperial Park Recreation Center members, or $20 for non-members.
The Imperial Park Recreation Center is located at 234 Matlage Way, Sugar Land.

Sugar Land Women celebrate 24 years of service
The non-profit group Suburban Sugar Land Women is celebrating 24 years and planning upcoming activities.
SSLW has been active in the community since 1989. The organization offers services that help individuals from infancy to adulthood.
The following upcoming events are free and open to the public:
+2013 Scholarship Applications will be available from Tuesday, Jan. 1, to Thursday, Feb. 28, online at www.sslw.org.
+Spring semester school clothing and supply drive will be Tuesday, Jan. 1, through Thursday, Jan. 31.
+Black History Month Program: Return & Reconnect-Military Families will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in the meeting room of the First Colony Library, 2121 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land.
