The seventh annual Fort Bend Holiday Bowl recently gathered toys and funds for children throughout the community.
According to a press release, attendees were required to bring a new toy or funds to purchase toys to be admitted to the flag football game featuring the Enforcers of the Fort Bend County Sheriffs Office against the Chargers of the Sugar Land Police Department. The game was held Dec. 1 at Fort Bend Christian Academy's Eagle Stadium in Sugar Land.
Donated toys and funds will benefit the Fort Bend County Deputy Sheriffs Office and Sugar Land Police Officers Association's Santa Behind the Badge and Toys for Tots programs.
The event received enough toys to fill 24 industrial-sized bags, which is an increase from last year's event.
In addition to the flag football game, the Holiday Bowl featured entertainment by the drumline and majorettes from Ridgegate Elementary School Ranger Band and the drumline of Fort Bend Christian Academy. Deputy Frank Davis, the organizer of the event, also honored and presented retiring sheriff Milton Wright with a framed copy of an Enforcer jersey with the No. 1 prior to the game.
