Missouri City residents compete in Healthy at HEB Community Challenge
Missouri City's Recreation and Tennis Center partnered with residents to compete in the Healthy at HEB Community Challenge from Saturday to Wednesday, Sept. 1 to Oct. 31.
The statewide contest encouraged local communities to build active lifestyles. During the two-month contests, participating communities earned points by developing exercise and improved health programs. Participating communities were divided into categories based on their size. Missouri City placed second in communities with populations of 100,000 or less. Pflugerville placed first in the same category.
"Our second place finish shows how important health and fitness is to our citizens and also how our new Missouri City Recreation and Tennis Center provides valuable opportunities for exercise and improved health," said Larry Foos, director of parks and recreation, in a press release. "I am really proud of the citizens of Missouri City and their commitment to a healthy lifestyle."
First place winners included San Antonio for large-size communities and Brownsville for mid-size communities.
