24 Fort Bend ISD students selected to take part in Junior Student Leadership program

Fort Bend Independent School District announced that 24 of its high school juniors have been selected to take part in the Junior Student Leadership program during the 2012-13 school year.

According to a press release from Fort Bend ISD, "the students represent all 11 FBISD high schools and will take part in monthly sessions to help build their awareness, understanding and appreciation of leadership roles in our community. The 2012-13 Junior Student Leadership Cohort includes Mary Abella (Austin), Erin Breaux (Hightower), Reina Chang (Dulles), Anthony Espinal (Hightower), Danielle Fournier (Kempner), Katherine Goss (Ridge Point), Ashley Gough (Kempner), Justine Hall (Travis), Prerna Kamnani (Elkins), Helen Li (Travis), Hilario Lumbreras (Austin), Jasmine Medina (Willowridge), Jonathan Mohammad (Hightower), Carolyn Nguyen (Bush), Emmanuel Nnali (Bush), Caleb Pete (Marshall), Natasha Pirani (Marshall), Cody Price (Bush), Christi Reynolds (Austin), Ruhika Roy (Elkins), Conner Smith (Dulles), Sanjana Srikanth (Clements), Kaylan Whitaker (Willowridge) and Natalie Wolf (Clements)."

"We have a great group of students taking part in the program," said FBISD board member Jenny Bailey in the release. "Throughout the year, they will have the opportunity to explore various leadership roles within our community — whether in the judicial system, business or medical industries — and gain a better understanding of what it takes to run a community and provide services to citizens."

Fort Bend ISD is the seventh largest school district in Texas with nearly 70,000 students. It covers a district of 170 square miles and serves its students with 74 campuses, including 11 high schools, 14 middle schools and 45 elementary schools. The district also has a Technical Education Center, the M.R. Wood Center for Learning, the Progressive High School and the Ferndell Henry Center for Learning. The school district is the largest employer in Fort Bend County with approximately 9,100 employees and substitutes.
