Methodist Sugar Land Hospital offered more than 350 Fort Bend residents free flu shots Saturday, Nov. 3 in exchange for a new unwrapped toy or clothing item.

According to a press release, donations from the event will benefit Santa's Gift Exchange, an organization devoted to providing economically disadvantaged children in the Fort Bend area with joy during the holiday season.

The event was sponsored by Sugar Land and Fort Bend Exchange clubs and the Sugar Land Rotary, in addition to the hospital.

"We were very pleased to see such a large turnout on Saturday morning," Leena Taneja, director of physician relations and marketing at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, said in the release. "It is great to work and live in a community that can come together for a wonderful cause that will benefit the children in our community."

Residents can participate in the toy drive until Wednesday, Dec. 12 by dropping off toys or clothing to Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, 16655 S.W. Freeway, Sugar Land.
