Kempner High School receives award
Kempner High School was awarded the 2012 College Readiness award by the Texas ACT Council to recognize significant increase in the school's ACT composite score over the past five years.
Kempner High School also increased the number of students taking the assessment during that time. The school is among the nine percent of all high schools in Texas to be selected for the honor.
According to a press release, KHS principal Dr. Anthony Indelicato stated, "We are very proud to receive the Texas ACT College Readiness Award as we want our students at Kempner to graduate with options, and this award is one indicator that our students are college ready and have a bright future ahead of them. I want to thank all of our parents, community members, teachers and students for their hard work and dedication that has resulted in this recognition."
The Texas ACT Council is made up of secondary and post-secondary educators who advise ACT Inc. on the utilization of its programs and services in the state's schools.
In the same press release, Karen Pennell, assistant vice president and ACT Southwest Regional Manager stated, "These increases in scores and test participants can only happen as a result of the high schools faculty and staff efforts, as well as the dedication of the Kempner students and parents who focus on college and career readiness."
Kempner High School is at 14777 Voss Road, Sugar Land.
