Fort Bend ISD receives Superior Achievement rating from state agency

The Fort Bend Independent School District recently received a Superior Achievement rating from the Texas Education Agency's Financial Integrity Rating System.

Known as FIRST, the state program gave the district a score of 70 out of a maximum of 70 points.

According to a district press release, the score was based on audit and governance disclosures, cash and investments, tax collections, fund balances, administrative costs and staffing levels.

The state began the rating program in order to enhance the performance of school districts in managing financial resources.

"This systems allows our governing state agency to analyze all school districts using hard data," said Tracy Hoke, district CFO, in the press release. "I am extremely proud of my department's diligent efforts, as well as those of our entire school district, to achieve such an outstanding rating."

The state rating program began 10 years ago and has provided transparency in district financial matters and has given early warnings of potential problems for school district.

The Fort Bend ISD is at 16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land.
