Sugar Land's Sallean earns Eagle Scout award
Sugar Land Troop 38 Boy Scout Michael Sallean earned the Eagle Scout award on Friday, Aug. 31 for his work creating a park at the Rosenberg Railroad Museum.
Sallean, a junior at Sugar Land's Stephen F. Austin High School, designed and created the park at the museum and dedicated it to Neil Banfield, a museum benefactor, Rosenberg community activist and longtime resident.
Eagle Scout candidates must be active in the troop, hold a leadership position, earn at least 21 merit badges, complete a leadership service project benefiting his local community and receive letters of recommendation. After a scout rises through the ranks, he performs an eagle project to develop leadership skills while providing a community service, according to a press release.
