First Colony Middle School cheerleaders, pep squad and PALS members gather on the lawn with the school's Pinwheels for Peace Display.
First Colony Middle School students marked the 2012 International Day of Peace Friday, Sept. 21 with a pinwheel display.
According to a press release, the students used construction paper to create the art and literacy project and then displayed them on the school's front yard.
The pinwheels represented the students' hopes, feelings and thoughts about current world affairs, the release states.
Nationwide, more than four million students planted their creations to express their ideas about tolerance, peace and harmony, according to the release.
