B.F. Terry High School student receives national recognition
B.F. Terry High School seniors Jordan Sampson, left, and Toluwase Soda, right, are recognized by the National Achievement Scholarship Program as being in the top 3 percent of more than 160,000 Black Americans after taking the PSAT.
Toluwase Soda, a B.F. Terry High School student and Rosenberg resident, received the National Achievement Scholarship Program Certificate on Sunday, Oct. 14.
The program honors academically promising Black American high school students.
Soda is a drum major for the Ranger Band. She is vice president of National Honor Society, president of the student council, a member of the swim team and the Girl Scouts. After graduation, she plans on attending Rice University to pursue classes in pre-med.
Vera Wehring, principal of B.F. Terry, presented the award.
