Billy Stritch to open First United Methodist Church new concert series
Singer and pianist Billy Stritch will be the opening performer for the new concert series of First United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, in the church sanctuary in Missouri City.
Stritch is one of the premier performers on the New York and international jazz and cabaret scene, according to a church press release. He has arranged for many well-known artists and has frequently collaborated with Liza Minelli. He recently supervised the music for Minelli's Tony-winning Broadway show "Liza's at the Palace."
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Arts Committee of the church. The organization offers concerts free to the public to expand the outreach ministry of First United Methodist Church, according to the press release. A love offering will be accepted at the event.
The church is located at 3900 Lexington Blvd., near the intersection of Murphy Road and Lexington Boulevard, in Missouri City.
