Travel back in time at George Ranch

A historical building is just one exhibit at the George Ranch Historical Park.

The George Ranch Historical Park is a wonderful resource for visitors who are interested in learning more about the frontier history of Texas.

With sites spanning 100 years of ranch life, attendees can discover how some of the earliest settlers in the region lived on a day-to-day basis. Visitors can wander around and explore at their own pace, or take part in one of the escorted tours provided by the staff. Special events are held most months. The next is a Labor Day barbecue is Saturday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 3, which recreates how the meal would have been prepared in the 1930s.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: Stepping onto George Ranch Historical Park property is like stepping into the past. The park allows visitors to see what life was like at four different points in the ranch's history, complete with historical interpreters in period costumes. On Saturdays, visitors can even enjoy meals prepared in the style of each of the historical periods. Attendees can walk around the park by themselves or take an escorted tour. A visit to this park is a fun, educational experience, and it allows you to appreciate how much things have changed in the past century.
