Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists to host physicals, clinic at Constellation Field
Methodist Orthopaedic Specialists of Texas will host a preparticipation physicals and youth sports injury prevention clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
The clinic is open to middle and high school students who plan to participate in sports activities in the coming school year.
Topics to be presented while physicals are in session include ACL injuries, nutrition, overtraining injuries and concussions.
Two cardiologists, Dr. B. Keith Ellis and Dr. Tapan Rami, will be at the clinic to screen for arrhythmias and heart defects.
The cost for the clinic is $20 cash per student. Participants should bring the UIL physician evaluation form, which can be found on the clinic's website by visiting www.methodistorthopedics.com. Students who bring paperwork filled out will receive a prize.
The clinic will concentrate on those sports-related injuries that most typically bring young athletes' careers to a halt. Those injuries include sprains and strains, acute injuries, overuse injuries and reinjuries, according to a press release.
Diagnosing and treating these injuries quickly can help ensure they don't become larger chronic problems for young athletes. The clinic will stress the ways that most sports-related injuries can be prevented.
Constellation Field is located at 1 Stadium Drive in Sugar Land.
