El Campo man charged in connection with stabbing
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office filed charges against an El Campo man accused of beating and stabbing his former girlfriend.
El Campo resident Kenneth McClain, 49, faces a charge of aggravated assault after an alleged incident that occurred on July 18 at a residence in the 300 block of North Ninth Street, according to a Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office news release.
According to the release, deputies were called to the residence at 1:45 p.m. by a woman who claimed McLain had attacked her. When they arrived, a witness and the victim, who reportedly had a sliced neck and multiple stab wounds, said McClain was traveling back to El Camp on U.S. 59, according to the release.
A short time later, a Wharton County deputy spotted McClain on U.S. 59 and County Road 458 and stopped him. Fort Bend deputies responded to the scene and took McClain to the Fort Bend County Jail, according to the release.
Medics reportedly transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
