Police volunteers partner with Skeeters and Harley Davidson for memorial ride
A May 12 Law Enforcement Memorial Ride culminating at Constellation Field will commemorate National Police Week by honoring fallen police officers.
The Sugar Land Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Republic Harley Davidson and the Sugar Land Skeeters minor league baseball team are organizing the event, which is seeking sponsors. All proceeds from the fourth annual Memorial Ride will benefit crime prevention.
“It’s important that we all remember and honor the memories of our law enforcement family,” said Police Chief Doug Brinkley in a press release. “That’s what we’ll be doing on May 12 — making sure their contributions are never forgotten and recognizing the hard work and sacrifice of those who serve on a daily basis.”
Memorial Ride registration is 2-4 p.m. at Republic Harley Davidson at 12707 Southwest Freeway. Riders will embark for the new baseball stadium at 5:45 p.m. Once there, a Parade of Chrome will take place.
Fort Bend County's new BearCat tactical armored vehicle will be on display. Other events at the stadium will include a presentation of the colors by Sugar Land’s police honor guard and a bagpipes rendition of “Amazing Grace.”
