Youth in Philanthropy assisting Literary Council with event
Youth in Philanthropy will assist the Literacy Council with "Once Upon a Time," an interactive reading workshop for children, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 3 at the Literacy Council, 12530 Emily Court, Sugar Land.
The family literacy event features a children's story time theater for children 3-10. There will be story productions and a craft station, as well as a presentation called "How to Read to Your Child" for parents.
Parents will receive handouts containing recommended reading lists and brochures with suggestions for parents on how to read to their children.
Some stories that will be read at both sessions include "Goodnight, Moon," "Frog and Toad Are Friends" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Youth in Philanthropy students will dress in costume as characters from the books and act out the books' events.
Those interested in attending the event should contact Lauren at the Literacy Council at 281-240-8181 to reserve a spot at one of the two sessions.
