Texana helping put people back to work
Texana, a nonprofit organization that provides behavioral health care and developmental disabilities services, is starting a supported employment program to help people who suffer from bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia or schizoaffective in the Fort Bend community to rejoin the workforce.
Texana provides career service training for those enrolled in the program, which includes teaching soft and hard skills, writing a resume and interviewing, according to a press release.
They also provide job placement in fields such as food service, health care, certified nursing assistance, kitchen assistance, nursing home positions, assembly lines, labor and construction.
According to the press release, Texana has more than 50 clients waiting to be placed.
Anyone in Fort Bend County who is currently served or meeting the priority population category and is looking for a part-time or full-time employment qualifies. People are referred by case managers or other physicians, according to a press release.
