Stafford Boys and Girls Club receives grant from Fluor
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston has received a $25,000 grant from Fluor Corporation, which will benefit after-school programs for youth in Fort Bend County.
Members will be able to get help with their homework after school and set goals so they can graduate. Fluor's support will help the Fort Bend Boys & Girls Club and the Stafford Boys & Girls Club administer programming to almost 2,000 members.
National research shows that one out of four students in the United States is on his or her own after school and until 6 p.m every day. The after-school programs offered at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston allow students to fill those hours productively by becoming active in intramural leagues and building social skills with other youth in the community.
