Rosenberg Development Corporation approves agreement with Imperial Performing Arts
The Rosenberg Development Corporation voted in favor of entering a performance agreement with Imperial Performing Arts Inc. to develop a performing and cultural arts program in historic downtown Rosenberg during its meeting held Feb. 8, according to a press release.
The RDC also held a public hearing on the project declaration for the project expenditure during the meeting. The public hearing was part of a 60-day waiting period before the RDC is allowed to expend funds on the project, which began when notice of the hearing was published.
According to the release, the RDC will provide $250,000 a year for two years to Imperial Arts. The agreement calls for Imperial Performing Arts to renovate and open the building at 823 Third St. by Sept. 30. This building will become Imperials Arts' center in Rosenberg, and be used for cultural and performing arts events.
The agreement also calls for Imperial Arts to restore the Cole Theatre at 980 Third St. and have it opened for public performances by Dec. 31, 2014.
The agreement also includes the development of a performing arts program, with a minimum of 60 public ticketed events annually in the city of Rosenberg and at least 12 community events per year.
