Students celebrate diversity while promoting community service
Students in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at Missouri City Middle School have participated in various activities throughout the school year to celebrate diversity and promote community service.
The school hosted its second annual It's a Different World: Celebrating Our Diversity, an international festival, in the fall. The festival gave students the chance to learn about different cultures.
Students are also holding a coin drive through May 1 to support Somalia refugees affected by the drought in East Africa. All proceeds generated from the project will benefit a displaced Somalian family.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme is open to all seventh- and eighth-grade students at the campus. For more information about the program, go to fortbendisd.com or contact the IB academy coordinator, Keisha Smith-Davis, at keisha.smithdavis@fortbendisd.com.
