Fort Bend reports drop in crime rate
Fort Bend County experienced a 5 percent drop in crime in 2011.
Officials reported eight murders, 56 rapes, 117 robberies, 695 assaults, 1,509 burglaries, 2,309 larcenies and 247 thefts in 2011 in the unincorporated areas of Fort Bend.
The report states that in 2010, there were eight murders, 49 rapes, 132 robberies, 687 assaults, 1,568 burglaries, 2,606 robberies and 225 thefts. These findings are published in the 2011 Uniform Crime Report.
The lower crime rate in Fort Bend mirrors the national drop in violent crimes, according to a Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office news release.
