Sugar Land Kite Festival set for March
Sugar Land's third annual Cultural Kite Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 3, at Sugar Land Memorial Park.
There will be a miniature kite museum showcasing the history of kite making, kite-flying lessons and kite-flying competitions. A kite-making workshop will give children a chance to build, design and take home their own kites.
Other entertainment will include walk-around characters, stilt-walkers and cultural performers. Face painting and henna tattoos will be available for children.
The kite contest is open to all ages. There is no cost to enter.
Trophies will be given for largest kite, smallest kite, most unusual/unique kite, highest-flying kite and most colorful kite.
Limited parking will be available at the park. Additional parking will be available at the UH Sugar Land Campus, at 14000 University Blvd., where free shuttle buses will be available.
All activities and entertainment are free and open to the public, and refreshments will be sold by local food vendors.
