Sugar Land police sergeant to command Michigan-based battalion
Lieutenant Colonel Trever Nehls will assume command of the 415th Civil Affairs Battalion in Portage, Mich.
Nehls, a 23-year member of the United States Army National Guard and US Army Reserve, returned from Afghanistan in July after his second Afghanistan combat tour.
Nehls is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Engineer Officer Advanced Course and the resident Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Nehls has received numerous military awards and decorations, most notably, three Bronze Stars.
As a civilian, Nehls is employed with the Sugar Land Police Department as a sergeant.
