Volleyball: Dulles back in the chase
After a slight detour last season, following their co-district championship and 31 wins the year before, the Dulles Lady Vikings are back on the road to success. Scott says they're more focused on their goals this year, but the main difference is the leadership the older players on the team are providing. On the court, that leadership is translating into all-out hustle every match, especially on the defensive end, helping them claim eight of their first 10 district matches in three sets. [...] again, Scott prefers all her players to be capable of playing anywhere, making position labels extraneous. The key stretch in the first round of district came mid-September, when the Lady Vikings won back-to-back five-set matches against Fort Bend Austin and Kempner, both away from their home gym. The won the first game with Austin 26-24 at Wheeler Fieldhouse, then alternated sets the rest of the way, and they dropped the first game at Kempner but rallied to win the final two and take the match.
