Elkins alum Nicole Gremillion combines on shutout for Northern Illinois
The Northern Illinois University softball team split its doubleheader with Sacramento State Thursday at Sacramento State's Shea Stadium in Sacramento, California.
The Huskies (9-10), who are averaging almost six runs a game this season, posted an 8-0 shutout over Sacramento State in Game One, before falling to the Hornets, 11-3, in the nightcap.
NIU head coach Lindsay Chouinard told the school website, "Whitney Owens and Elkins High School graduate Nicole Gremillion combined for the shutout which was nice to see."
Gremillion pitched a scoreless sixth to help preserve NIU's second shutout.
Gremillion played at Elkins High School from 2006-10.
