Terry alum assigned to NBA D-League
Former Terry High School and University of Texas basketball standout Dexter Pittman was assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBDL by the Miami Heat.
Pittman is the first Miami Heat player ever assigned to the Skyforce, an affiliate of the Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The 6-foot, 11-inch, 308-pound Pittman scored nine points, grabbed nine rebounds and logged 26 minutes during his pro debut, a 98-95 loss to the Dakota Wizards on Saturday.
He was selected with the 32nd pick overall in the 2010 NBA draft by the Heat after leading Texas in field goal percentage and blocks his senior season.
Pittman was District 24-4A MVP and first-team All-Greater Houston his senior season at Terry High School.
