Elkins grad leads LSU soccer to win over Auburn
Fort Bend Elkins HS graduate (2010) and LSU freshman goalkeeper Megan Kinneman lead LSU to a 2-1 win over visiting Auburn on Sunday.
Kinneman had a pair of highlight reel worthy saves to preserve the victory. One came on a corner kick by Auburn in the 82nd minute. Kinneman leaped to her right and blocked a header by Auburn's Julie King.
Seconds later, Kinneman punched a shot by Katy Frierson out of the zone of danger.
Kinneman is the daughter of Jeff and Dorothy Kinneman.
Kinneman is a four-year veteran of the Region III Olympic Development Program Team from 2006-09. She competed internationally with the Region III ODP Team in tours of Costa Rica in 2007, Italy in 2008 and Portugal in 2009, and also competed with the Region III ODP Team in the prestigious Thanksgiving Inter-regional in Florida for three-straight years from 2006-08.
She was considered one of the top 10 goalies in the nation her senior year at Elkins HS.
LSU will face Kentucky at home on Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
