Smith leads UTEP defense in 42-10 win
Missouri City native Royzell Smith helped UTEP’s defense dominate New Mexico State in a 42-10 win.
Smith, a 2007 Thurgood Marshall graduate, led the Miners with 10 tackles: two solo and eight assists. also intercepted a pass by New Mexico State quarterback Seth Smith, returning it for 13 yards in the fourt quarter.
Smith is the son of Royzell Smith III and June Woods.
The former Midlands region star is now second on the team in tackles for the season with 21.
A one-time Thurgood Marshall track star, “Ro” Smith will lead UTEP into action against Memphis in El Paso next Saturday. The game, with a 7:05pm MT start, will be carried on KOFX 92.3FM/JOSE 1650AM.
