Tips on helping your kids do well in school

Want to help your help child succeed?
Then enroll in the Lamar Consolidated school district's free six-week parenting class on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. that starts next week at George Junior High School, 3911 Ave. I in Rosenberg.
The program is from Oct. 8 through Nov. 12.
It will focus on parents of children who are in kindergarten through the fifth grade. Topics will include rewarding good behavior, practicing patience and other positive reinforcement techniques.
The class will be taught by Margaret Proctor, who will be assisted by a dog named Professor Louis Poodle.
