Lamar school district's 'L.E.A.F.' program awards grants to area teachers

The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation recently awarded a total of $203,660 to 105 grant winners.
The grant winners included area teachers. The teachers included Hutchison fourth grade teacher Tiffany Garcia, McNeill Elementary kindergarten teacher Liz Clark, Huggins Elementary teachers Maria Thweatt and Nancy King, Travis Elementary Assistant Principal Lara Diaz and teachers Amy Pena, Rhonda Rodriguez, David McDowell, Jose Alcala and Mona Smith and Hubenak Elementary counselor Mynette Mayes.
L.E.A.F. is a non-profit community based organization dedicated to securing and distributing resources to Lamar CISD that will enhance educational programs.
Since 2000, the foundation has given out $1,480,575 to teachers.
