“Rockin’ and Rollin’: An Event with a Beat of its Own” is the Western/Caribbean theme for the 21st annual Lone Star Stomp gala set for April 17 in the covered arena at the George Ranch Historical Park on FM 762 near Richmond.
The event, which will be from from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m., benefits the educational and preservation efforts of the Fort Bend County Museum Association, and sponsorship opportunities are available through Friday.
The Triumphs will be playing
Popular band The Triumphs will provide the evening’s musical entertainment. Formed in the 1950s with B.J. Thomas as lead singer, The Triumphs continued after he left to pursue a solo career.
Jeff Council will be the auctioneer for the live auction. A silent auction will offer a wide variety of items as well, and the barbecue meal will by catered by The Swinging Door.
Returning at the helm of the event is Becky Covell, who also chaired the 2008 Stomp.
“Our committed-to-success event team is bringing in some great live auction items this year,” Covell said. “Plus, there will be something for everyone in the silent auction.”
Couple to be honored for service
Jeff and Ann Council will be recognized during the evening for more than two decades of dedication to the Fort Bend County Museum Association.
“They have actively and consistently supported the Museum Association for a great number of years,” said the association’s executive director, Candace Jones. “Ann was a charter member of the Docent Society and served on the museum’s board of trustees; Jeff and Ann have been significantly involved with the Lone Star Stomp every year and have generously contributed their time and resources towards its success. They are both genuinely deserving of commendation for their generosity and graciousness to our organization and community.”
