Knowing that the needs in Haiti are still great, two Sugar Land girls are raising money to help earthquake victims.
Madison and Brooke Frohock, who started the Hearts-n-Horses Foundation that helps raise funds S.I.R.E., Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Center, are doing their part to give to those in need.
The girls raised money this weekend at Sugar Land Town Square during a concert to give to Sugar Land-based Hope for Haiti's Children to help Haitian earthquake victims. They sold sodas and snacks.
Helping others is just something they do. The girls were inspired to start their nonprofit after their handicapped younger sister, Laney, began riding horses with S.I.R.E. as part of therapy. Laney was born with part of her brain missing, a disorder called Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum. She can't walk or talk but is able to ride horses.
Madison and Brooke wanted to raise money to help others benefit from horseback riding as their wheelchair-bound sister has been.
Now, they're hoping to raise awareness for Haiti and give back to others in need.
Couldn't make it to the concert? You can still donate to either group - Hearts-n-Horses or Hope for Haiti's Children. Both groups will continue to accept financial donations through their Web sites.
