A gunman who tried to rob a small Fort Bend County grocery on Sunday was scared off by a customer.
The attempted robbery took place Sunday at 6:25 p.m. at the Vishala Grocery in the 9400 block of Texas 6, several miles north of Sugar Land, said Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Terriann Carlson.
A store clerk reported that he was behind the counter when a man came in wearing a black ski mask and demanded that the cash register be opened.
That's when the robber spotted a customer walking down an aisle.
"He apparently got scared and fled," Carlson said.
The robber did not get any money. He is described as white, but no further description was available other than he was wearing a green shirt and black pants.
