New junior high gets its first principal

Juan Nava has been named the first principal of Antoinette Reading Junior High School, which opens next fall in the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.

The Lamar school board approved his appointment Thursday night.

Readiing Junior High is being built at 8101 FM 762, adjacent to George Ranch High.

Nava has spent all 17 years of his career in education in the Lamar school district. He currently is an assistant principal at Foster High School.

His experience also includes five years of teaching junior high science and seven years teaching science and coaching at Terry High.

He will start his duties as principal Jan. 4.
