    Now that's a coat!

First Colony Church of Christ is staging Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this weekend.

Performances are set for Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. The musical kicked off last weekend.

The show is based on the Biblical story of Joseph and was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Joseph is played by Ron Roberts. The show’s narrator is Sharon Galvan.

Director Dr. Pam Speights stated in a news release that "the musical is a high energy show that enables us to showcase the talents of several age groups in our congregation. And what a fun way to introduce the community to our beautiful new worship center."

The public is invited to bring neighbors and friends to an evening of musical entertainment. First Colony Church of Christ is at 2140 First Colony Blvd. near U.S. 59.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.firstcolonychurch.org.

    Ageless Story Plus Local Talent

The story is as old as the hills. Sibling rivalry, family in crisis and how time and events shape the lives of 12 brothers, a father and a nation. A fable that unfolds in this age as real life for many in "dysfunctional" family situations.

What images does a coat of many colors bring to your mind? It could be the many colors of the rainbow. Could it be the nationalities of the world? In the Joseph's life it is the covering of a father's love for his son. To the brothers of Joseph the coat represents the special favors not afforded them by their father. Perceptions one and all.

How do you see your life and your family in the context of history? Set backs and impacts push us, and our families, around through our journeys with seeming irreverence for order or concern of success or failure. Joseph and the "Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" provides a tale of hope through hopelessness. Could dysfunctional family be a misnomer for normal?

I admit my prejudice to this production as the cast includes family and friends. All are of greater talent than me. Please, find a moment to enjoy one of the last two productions. October 3 & 4 @ 7 PM.
